Rosa from Black Rose Minerals always finds new ways to have full posession of my heart (and my wallet), this time it’s the Soul Reaper collection. This is a collection based off the Bleach anime and manga series, and captures the essence of the characters so well. If you’re a fan, you just need to see the colours and probably guess who they’re based off, without even having to see a label.

The colours in this collection so far are

  • Ichigo
  • Uryu
  • Urahara
  • Shunsui
  • Toshiro
  • Kon
  • Kenpachi
  • Rukia
  • Yoruichi
  • Ukitake
  • Hollows
  • Captain Kuchiki
  • Renji

In the future I would love to the collection expanded to include some of the other captains and main characters, but this collection on its own is outstanding and very true to each character. It truly is a work done from a fan of the series, and you can see it in the quality of the shadows.

On to the swatches. These are swatched over Pixie Epoxy, and photographed outdoors in natural lighting. Also, I’ve included pictures of the namesakes, so you can see where the inspiration has come from. Needless to say, this is a picture heavy post :P

Our color is based off of Byakuya’s zanpakuto, Senbonzakura in its Bankai form. A million tiny, swirling blades reminiscent of falling cherry blossoms surround his victims. Our cherry blossom pink glistens and sparkles with pink shimmer.

Our color represents his fancy Quincy outfit: a light shimmering white with aqua sparks.

Our inspiration is based on his plushie body, a slightly shimmery goldenrod with orange undertones and just a touch of brown glitter to represent his brown mane.

Our color is based on Ichigo’s spirit energy and his Zanpakuto – or sword to normal humans. This deep black glistens slightly with just a pop of copper sparkles.

Our color is inspired by his flamboyant mane. A crimson with fuchsia highlights with a slight shimmer.

We used not only his turquoise icy eyes as inspiration, but also his bankai ice dragon. This icy turquoise borders on the edge of aqua. Loaded with silver and aqua sparkles.

Inspired by his true unleashed spirit energy, this bright electric yellow shines with loads of shimmer.

Our color is inspired by the flowers on his kimono and his generally flamboyant lifestyle. Our shade starts with a cherry red and sparkles with pink (the color of his kimono) and aqua sparkles (the color of his fancy hair tie).

Our color is inspired by his hair. A sheer and silvery light white glistens gently.

Inspired by her black color in cat form and her indigo mane. A deep blue black matte base with an overlay of violet shimmer.

Inspired by his iconic hat, this is a deep forest green with a splash of gold sparkles.

We based this deepest black on the Hollows. A deep dark matte black.

Inspired by the deep violet hue of her eyes, ours is a deep shimmering violet with a slight metallic sheen.

Here’s also a comparison of Uryu and Ukitake. You can definitely see here the aqua quality that Uryu has, now that’s it’s swatched next to a brighter, and more opaque white shadow. Just thought this might be of interest to anybody who thought the two colours look too similar. They really aren’t.

You can buy the entire collection in

  • 1/8 tsp sample bags for $13
  • 1/4 tsp in 3g sample jars for $26
  • full size jars for $65

My favourites in this collection are Shunsui, Yoruichi and Ichigo. How can you not like love obsess over Shunsui o.O I really like that Shunsui is a red based eyeshadow, because it suits his persoanality, and his zanpakuto better than just a pink shade would’ve done. I have a massive ladyboner for Shunsui, if that wasn’t already apparent. Just to let you know. Ichigo and Shunsui will definitely benefit from using a glitter glue type of product, though a sticky primer may work well for you. Maybe my Pixie Epoxy is old (brought it back in 2011!) and it’s adhesive properties aren’t as excellent as they could be, and that’s why I couldn’t get some of the glitter to be more obvious. Anyway, use what works for you :) Any favourites from this collection for you?
