  1. My first ‘proper’ hair cut wasn’t until I was 13. I had hair past my butt, and I loved it. I think my mum would trim the ends for me, but I honestly don’t remember. Probably just let it grow and never trimmed it. The reason I had my hair cut was because I was starting high school and wanted a ‘change’. I think I cut it shoulder length hair.  I then grew it down to butt level by the time I was 15, and had it cut again before my year 10 formal. I’ve never grown my hair that long since, but currently my hair is at it’s longest it’s been since I was 15 (it’s almost at my waist). Last time I had my hair cut short (chin length) was probably 5-6 years ago. I always miss my hair at that length, and keep waffling over whether to cut it that short xD
  2. I actually have a mild stutter, and it took me a very long time to be okay with it. I’ve never received treatment for it (a story for another time) but nobody knew I had a stutter because I’m one of the very fortunate ones who have it mild enough that I ‘pass’ for fluent, and I usually disguise any problem words. If I slip up, most people tend to think it’s because I’m just nervous, and not an ongoing problem. Growing up, my stutter defined a very big part of my life, and was a major source of my teenage woes. However, I’ve noticed as I get older, it’s settled down and I probably have about 80% fluency, 60% on very stressful days (and oddly enough, days leading up to my period.) I don’t let it define me anymore, and now I can at least make phone calls and handle job interviews with much more ease :)
  3. You know how people usually let out a scream when something has spooked them? For some reason I do a stupid thing where I INHALE IN HORROR. Each and every time. Like my body is trying to suck our their soul, instead of me screaming in their face. I don’t know why I do this, but it’s more embarrassing than the fact that I got a fright by opening a door and seeing someone stand on the other side. I do however scream when I am angry. No inhalation from anger xD
  4. I learned to read at a VERY young age, and I can’t remember exactly when. When I started kindgarten, I was reading at a 4th grade level.  I loved to read many books as a child, and I would pretty much read anything and everything :) My parents would buy me second hand books from the charity shop every so often, and even brought me a set of second hand encyclopaedias :) They were super old, but they were really fun and interesting back then. It was something I was teased over in school because I was borrowing heaps of books from the school library, probably 10 a week. I stopped reading because I couldn’t deal with the kids making fun of me :( This carried over into high school as well. I look back at those times and just wished I had read more at home. I find myself not so very interested in reading anymore, and it’s something I wish to fix. I want to become interested in reading again. I hate that children are cruel.
  5. I’m 24 and still don’t know how to drive ;) It’s been my luck in life to always live so close to public transport, so the urge to drive wasn’t there. Now I regret not learning when I was younger, because it would surely help out my current situation :(
  6. Speaking of transport, I don’t know how to ride a bike. I can ride those Razor scooters and use rollerblades (barely). Just didn’t have money for bikes, growing up. So I never learned.
  7. I would like to learn to speak Norwegian and Japanese.
  8. This is a story my mum likes to tell often. When I was 4 I had my own “pet”. It was a prawn I kept under my pillow. She couldn’t work out what the funny smell in my room was for a couple of days, then she found it. I don’t know wtf I was thinking, but I think it’s an awesome story to share with people too :D
  9. My name is mispronounced regularly. I’ve had my name pronounced as Allanah (my personal all time favourite), Elaynee, Elleneye, Eleenee, Elaine, Eeelenny, Eleanore. Just in case you were wondering, it’s pronounced as E-len-i (the e sound as in “egg”. just say it quickly, but if you want to say it with a greek accent say it like ). I usually just introduce myself to people as Ellie, because it’s easier for most to remember xD
  10. My role model growing up, and still to this very day is Daria Morgendorffer. That’s right, THAT Daria. I connected so much with what she was all about, and I felt like we were more or less the same person. People thinking that we were both ‘sad people’ and that we didn’t like people because we’re both quiet types. Sounds lame, but seriously, episodes of Daria really helped me pull through really shitty times during my adolescence.
  11. I had a reoccurring nightmare between the ages of 5 up until my mid teens. I think I had watched Little Shop Of Horrors, and that’s what caused the nightmare. Basically the nightmare is, I’m little and I open up my bedroom door, and outside the door is a row of plants, but my head tells me they’re killer plants because they have a red aura around them. Otherwise they’re just regular plants :P Then I close the door. I reopen it, and members of my family walk past the door, and they’re vampires (because their eyes are glowing red and they show their fangs). I proceed to freak the fark out in my dream and that’s the point where I would wake  up.

  1. What is your favorite color and why?
Blue. I don’t have a reason why, it just suits me. I like blue things, I think they look more appealing than most colours :)
  2. What is the one deepest memory you’ve had throughout your lifetime? This is probably my earliest memory, not sure how old I am. I’m playing connect 4 with my mum outside the front of our house and I scare myself momentarily thinking I’m seeing a spider crawl towards me. It wasn’t. It was just the tomato vine/top (you know, the leafy part attached to a tomato) being pushed along by the wind towards me.
  3. If you could get any tattoo on your body what would it be and why? Yggdrasil . The sacred tree in Norse mythology that connects the 9 worlds together. To me, the tree connecting the 9 worlds makes me thinking about how there are many different parts to my personality but they all share the same central connection that makes me as a person. Also, I feel an affinity towards earth elements (I’m not fond of water, air or fire) , and it just feels right :)
  4. Do you drink tea? What is your favorite? It’s no coincidence that tea is in my blog name ;) Yes, I do drink tea and enjoy it tremendously :) My favourite is Genmaicha, which is a japanese green tea with toasted, popped rice grains in it. It’s a beautiful nutty flavour, and goes with every meal and is equally excellent as a stand alone cup of tea :)
  5. What’s your favorite season? Autumn. It’s not crazy windy like winter can be, and I’m not dying from the heat during our craptastic summers. Autumn is awesome. I can wear jumpers on sunny days and not feel overheated or overdressed, and I can wear shirt and tank tops with no cardigans because there are some warm days around. Kickass time of year :)
  6. If you had to choose one makeup company to wear for the rest of your life what would it be? This is a cruel question :( I would say Black Rose Minerals. The range is absolutely amazing, so many colours and finishes of eyeshadow You are honestly spoiled for choice. BRM also sell blushes now as well :) I figure, with that huge range of eyeshadows, there’s heaps which are lip safe, I could make my own lip gloss :)
  7. Have you broken any bones? Nope, and proud of it :D I was always a cautious child, so this has spared me lots of pain haha
  8. What is your favorite perfume and why? My favourite perfume BEFORE I discovered indie perfumes was Sui Love by Anna Sui (I don’t purchase anymore because of animal testing, and also, I just prefer perfume oils now to EDT’s and EDP’s). Since discovering the world of indie it’s now Morton from The Morbid The Merrier (now defunct). Why? I can’t give a real explanation, but I smell it, and it feels like it ‘completes a part of me’. Cheesy I know. I have 3 full sizes and a solid perfume of Morton, which should last me a VERY long time. At least long enough for me to perhaps find another which ranks as highly, and at the moment Vardogr from Darling Clandestine is edging it’s way to number 1. We’ll see how things change in a few years ;)
  9. Do you have any pets? If yes then what are they? Unfortunately we do not have any non human friends in our home. Crappy land lord rules :(
  10. What is your biggest fear? What caused it? I have a trio of big fears: darkness, height and silence. I can at least deal with heights and silence, well deal as best I can without breaking down. I can’t do that with darkness. I break down and cry, I panic, I feel like I’m dying. I don’t know what’s caused that fear, or any of the others (heights is more of a life preservation issue I’m sure). I’ve woken up in the middle of the night, with Mr D in bed beside me, and I start freaking out because there’s no light. I always leave my laptop screen up. I cannot handle the dark at all.
  11. What are you going to be for Hallow’s Eve? If you have little demon spawns what are they dressing as? This isn’t something we celebrate in Australia (unless you’re a bar or nightclub trying to cash in on a promotion). I’d probably dress up as a Mad Scientist (which I did last year. Cheapest costumer ever, as I used my own lab coat, calculator, pens and calculator, and brought a wig from a shop.) or maybe as either Daria or Jane (from Daria). I’m terribly predictable -_-
