I am just so incredibly over the moon. I found out at 9pm Wednesday, that finally 2 years of working towards it, I finally have achieved the biggest goal of my life.

I’ve been accepted to UNSW (the university of New South Wales). I’m finally going to be able to major in microbiology, and focus all my time on bacteria, viruses, moulds, fungi and parasites.

For my international readers, this is big news. UNSW is one of the GO8 universities in Australia (the top research universities) and is the second hardest university to be admitted to in the state. It would be akin to saying I was admitted to Princeton (a US example). It’s one of these annoying ‘elite’ places which is competitive so far out the butt, that it took me this long to finally get there. I am still in shock that I’m finally there.

I come from a family where I was the first to do further study after high school, and also the first to complete year 12 (I’m the eldest child), so I was always encouraged to do my best in school. Even when I failed

So in celebration of the event…I went shopping :P There wasn’t much I could really spend (still saving for my NZ trip in March), so just a few shirts and more lipstick. Somehow over the past 2 months I’ve developed this desire to get more lipsticks in my collection. Surely beats the Palmers Cocoa Butter lip balm I was rocking all of 2010 and half way through last year.

So hopefully as the year carries on I can post more on microbiology here :) It will have to wait until next semester though, as I don’t take micro this semester :( Needing to get chemistry out of the way, because that subject will be the freaking death of me if I do not pass it.

So just sharing my life news :D
